What is the Certified Scrum Master (CSM®)?

Certified Scrum Master is an entry-level certification offered by the Scrum Alliance. CSM® Certification Eligibility Criteria

The Certified Scrum Master certification has no specific eligibility requirements. To be eligible to take the exam, the candidate must complete two days of training from Certified Scrum Training (CST) to help understand the exam pattern. It is advisable to gain an understanding of the Scrum principles and the entire scrum process.

CSM Certification Salary

Once you complete the training, your Certified Scrum trainer will assist you with creating an account for you to access a CSM® exam test site. After your application is approved, you have two opportunities within 90 days to pass the test at no cost. If you do not pass and need to retake the test, the fee is $25 for each additional attempt. It is advisable to re-enroll in the CSM® course in case you have failed thrice to clear the exam.

CSM® Exam and Training Cost

Applicants must attend a two-day (16-hour) CSM course taught by an approved Certified Scrum Trainer. The training course helps you prepare for the exam with online as well as in-person training options. The CSM® training covers the foundations of Scrum and rules, how to act as a Scrum Master for Scrum Teams and stakeholders, Servant-leadership, how to effectively use Scrum, run a Scrum project, and how to effectively apply Scrum in your organization.

Once you complete the training, your Certified Scrum trainer will assist you with creating an account for you to access a CSM® exam test site. Receiving the Scrum Alliance Certificate and Renewal

After passing the CSM® exam you would receive an email containing the login credentials from Scrum Alliance. You can log in to the Scrum Alliance website and finish the online evaluations. After submitting this online evaluation and agreeing to the terms and conditions, you can download and take a printout directly from the Scrum Alliance website.

After signing the license agreement, you will have to complete your membership profile. It is required that you renew your CSM certification every 2 years by completing a total of 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying a $100 renewal fee. Keeping up with the current trends is the key to being a CSM®. You earn one SEU for every hour spent on continuing education. SEUs come in five categories:
